Before and After

The existing window was actually a piece of painted plexiglass! YUCK!

Bottle Bottom

The bottle bottom is a prominent feature of the panel design, and adds interest

Preserving the memory!

Heartstrings

Soft light reveals the richness of colors. This piece was commissioned for a mom of three, to express “mother’s love”. Three hearts are still attached to the mother’s via “Heartstrings”

Nugget/Dalle de Verre sections were assembled first using a combination of copper foil and lead came. The slab glass was hand cut and shaped without a saw to produce a continuous 3-D relief, giving life to the “strings”

Glass nugget can be seen through the clear Dalle de Verre chunk (arrow)

3-D Dalle de Verre cradles the heart.

Changing light reveals interesting details as the chunky glass sparkles

Check out that streaky glass! The panel was constructed using the finest hand-blown antique glass, clear Dalle de Verre, and iridized glass nuggets

Mushrooms

The clear center of this panel lets a lot of light in and allows a view of the sky, while the mushroom design blocks the view from the neighbor’s house.

Heavily textured glass looks like tree bark

The mushroom seems to glow from beneath, like a lamp! Black glass provides interesting contrast in the panel

On a rainy day, the mushrooms glow red hot!

This panel was designed for and donated to the Wolf Conservation Center for their silent auction in 2009

I named it “Moon Dancer Wolf Spirit” and incorporated different moon phases

The eye and ear details were made using sheet lead

Notice how the smooth glass dances in its shadow!

The moon phases really stand out in the shadow of the panel. Check out the midnight blue glass… it looks like water!

Working on this design brought me absolute joy. I used the finest hand-blown antique glass I could find to bring Moon Dancer Wolf Spirit to life
